First ever FAN ART! Huzzah! At the Brooklyn Zine Fest last weekend, this really nice dude came up to my table and we chatted a bit and made small talk that I don't remember and he bought a zine or two from me. A few hours later I was walking back into the fest with a box of extra zines I had forgotten to bring in and walked passed him, so I handed him a copy of the new one and he thanked me and told me he would "draw me some stained glass" which seemed rather inscrutable at the time. Anyway, I totally forgot about that and now there's this!
For real! Teenage Mutant Ninja Angels! This dude twitters @TomGambinoArt and has a tumblr.
Speaking of tumbalers and art, my friend Fryd set up a website for my friend Yusuke who makes crazy, often beautiful, and often very upsetting paintings. Look at it.
Very soon I am finally going to post that Heems interview I was gonna post like two weeks ago. I'm a slowpoke. Sue me!

Im glad you like it man.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you threaded up useful information in presentable way.
ReplyDeleteThe fan art is fucking rad.
ReplyDeleteDid you read the MRR review of the Tenement lp in the last issue, where the reviewer mostly talks about how he doesn't like slice harvester? Pretty funny, i thought.
Wait, Nate, really? That is awesome. If you are my friend Nate and not a stranger Nate will you take a picture of it on your phone next time you are at work and text it to me?
DeleteI'm the one from canada, we know each other a lil bit...
ReplyDeleteMy phone can't take pictures but, it's in #348, May 2012; SEEIN'RED is on the cover. It goes like this:
TENEMENT-"The Blind Wink"LP
So, as it goes, i reviewed a TENEMENT EP about a year or two ago and didn't think too much of it. It waSn't bad, per se, but just didn't catch my attention. Now i sit here listening to the new TENEMENT LP whilst reading the Slice Harvester interview in the new issue. Having read several Slice Harvester reviews of pizza he called shitty (the slices i thought we pretty good), I'm still convinced this guy doesn't like pizza the way he ought to. Second chance, third chance, etc.--all denied. I'll never like Slice Harvester. So on TENEMENT's second chance, I am more impressed with their output. The new songs are catchier, even boardering on power pop, which is fitting as their drummer is currently touring with Peter Case and Paul Collins of the NERVES. this record strays from the generally mid-west-sounding pop punk of the aforementioned EP, with slower acoustic ditties that keep things interesting, while the quality isn't as polished as i remember on the other record.(BD)
