UES Pizza Triple Feature

Guess who's back in the motherfuckin' house, with a fat slice for your motherfuckin' mouth? Me! Welcome back to some semblance of consistency in updates! It looks like starting next week, I'll be working on my bike all day on Saturdays and Sundays, so S.H. may turn into a MTF affair (that's shorthand for Monday Through Friday, right?). Let me finish up the dangling pizzerias of a few weeks ago, and Monday I'll begin writing about the pizza I ate this past week with my dear, old friend Nate.

----------

Francesca Pizza - $2.25
1811 1 Avenue
New York, NY 10128

Barfaroni. Doughy dough, sickly-sweet sauce, crappy cheese. This slice was undercooked and the crust tasted like Wheatabix. Stay away.

Do Re Mi Pizza - $2.00
1760 1 Avenue
New York, NY 10128

Best out of these three, by far. This slice melts in your mouth when you eat it. The ingredients were good quality. It kind of tasted a little buttery, and smooth. This is like a shitty Sal & Carmine's slice. Eleanor thought it was too greasy and said, "it's not GREAT, but it's endearing." Just like the NY 1 commercial that was on the tv while we ate our slice.

Luigi's
- $2.75
1701 1 Avenue
New York, NY 10128

I wanted to like this place, but it just didn't cut the mustard. Totally nice atmosphere, and the employees were super sweet. But so was the sauce. And the slice had a weird aftertaste that made me think they may be chintzy with their ingredients. If you're gonna charge $2.75 for a slice, it shouldn't taste like chemicals.

  1. Sp.: "Weetabix". Still available in the UK, though not stateside.

Got a Korean tofu-and-vegetable pizza last night in the Outer Richmond and then ate a bunch of it at Pacific Beach and and was thinking of you, even though it kinda sucked. Looking forward to your account of our time together, and don't forget that picture of my legs.

  2. There's a moment in Lodi Dodi that's a close second, but that "Guess who's back" line is my favorite part of the whole album Doggystyle. Thanks for reminding me of it.

When they did that song at his awesome concert, Snoop got center stage, stood all cute like "I dunno!" and as he began the verse all the stage and house lights turned green and they let loose with a ton of fog machines!
