Libretto's Pizzeria: ":("

Libretto's Pizzeria is one of two totally picture perfect pizza places on 3rd Ave I used to ride past when I was messengering but always forgot to stop into. It looks like a totally classy but still down to earth, old school pizzeria. The choice of fonts and neon lights on the awning lends it an air of totally ancient seeming authenticity. And the people inside are really unfriendly and make you feel like you don't deserve to be there, which also leads one to believe that it's a really old and established place. But according to the charming anecdote about Italian American family's Sunday meals that they included on the website, Libretto's has only been around for about ten years. Also according Mike Libretto's Statement of Authenticity, "in our family, food was never about eating." Which shows in the pizza, because the pizza totally fucking stinks.

First things first, the cheese on this slice was not so good. It was really plasticy and tasted like cheap, cheap crap. The sauce tasted just like tomato paste and was totally bland and boring. The crust was dense and brittle in a really crappy way. Like it was going for Rad Crunch and totally failed and instead just ended up being like a cracker or something. Overall this slice was total shite and I never want to set foot inside this horrendous poseur establishment ever again. F this P.

  1. Man, sorry you had such a poor experience. Working off of your 4:28pm post, it looks as if you may have stopped in between lunch and dinner. First to admit, slices sit for a little while during that time. I invite you back for a fresh slice if you are up for it. I understand first impressions are hard to change, but next time you are riding by...
Thanks for the compliment on the look of the place.
